The Exmark Vantage: One Year Later
by Paul Jurgens on August 23, 2010, under Products
It’s been almost a year since the introduction of Vantage, our stand-on mower, and since then, the positive reviews have been pouring in. The features that really stand out in the minds of pros and dealers are the mower’s platform and suspension system, and the exclusive Exmark deck.
When we first started working on Vantage, we spent a lot of time with customers, talking to them, watching them work and figuring out their pain points. We discovered that comfort is key for the guy who is standing all day long. We designed the suspension to be easier on the operator’s knees and joints. And, as always, the deck delivers the distinct Exmark cut.
A few of our customers mentioned that they actually waited for the launch of this machine to buy a stand-on mower. They also told us it was well worth the wait. That makes us very proud.
Vantage features:
- Powered by 20 or 24 hp Kawasaki V Twin engines.
- Available with 48″and 52″ UltraCut Series 4 cutting decks.
- Ergonomically designed steering system includes an adjustable front reference bar that can control the top-end speed of the machine.
- Self-compensating suspension makes standing easier for pros of all shapes.
- Platform folds up, allowing the machine to function like a walk-behind.
- Superior traction and handling allows you to mow, changing landscapes effortlessly.
- Angled platform sides allow operator to shift body weight for a smoother ride when mowing hillsides.
- Greaseless spindles eliminate the need for yearly greasing.
- 11 x 4.0-5, smooth-tread, semi-pneumatic front caster tires for increased reliability.
- 20 x 10.0-8 Turf Master drive tires for optimum traction. Tough 1.5″ x 3.0″ steel-frame blades ensure maximum durability.
- Integrated tie-down points for secure trailering.

I have a hundred hours on my new vantage, Likes are the cut, the power and side hill stability. Dislikes are the wheelie’s going up even the smallest hills, the length of time to fix the operator safety switches and the fact that the blade is a 1 1/2 from the trim edge.
8000 dollar machine with out a drink holder or a garbage bag, come on exmark do you think we use these machines in the cold weather? or some place that paper and garbage doen’t end up on the lawn

The Vantage is the first stand-on mower I have ever used. I have to admit, I was a little intimidated. I’m only 5′1″ or 5′2″, and a lot of machines feel huge to me, but the Vantage is perfect.
I use the 20hp Vantage with the operator controlled discharge attachment. The discharge attachment is perfect in small areas, making it very easy to clean up, if you blow off garden beds and driveways. I feel like I am total control on hills and angles, it’s very comfortable, and most importantly, it’s fun! I give this mower a two thumbs up!!

Got 200 hours on my vantage,Likes are still the same as above. Dislikes are the wheelies it pulls on small hills. Dealer has fixed the switches and oil leak. Still needs a cup holder. The truth is I wont go back to my old machine.

There needs to be a 36 inch deck. I still need something that can get through small gates. It is very annoying to have to spend eight grand but still mow somebodys back yard by hand.

Thanks for the comment and feedback on the Vantage. We’ve actually just announced a new 36 inch deck addition to the Vantage. Here is some additional information on the recent announcement. Feel free to let us know if you have any additional feedback! Thanks!

Hey Exmark Expert, I wouldn’t worry too much about cupholders. In nearly two decades of mowing in the field I’ve never once put a drink on a mower! I use my cupholder for jamming bits of trash I find in yards, that’s about it. It might be nice, but certainly not a priority.
And when EXACTLY might we expect to see 36″ Vantage units arriving at dealers? Those Feburary rebate and fleet pricing incentives probably will be gone by then, right?

Thank you for your feedback on the cup holders. In order to better answer your questions, can you send an email to exmarkpr@exmark.com to verify whether you are a dealer or customer and where you are located?

wondering why the dealers will only allow mowers to operate for one hour/one property. i am a comercial operator, and the local dealer. told me this was the policy. i am trying to figure out weather the yantage mower will help me save time. vs my walk behind and rider. i am trying to carry less equipment/weight. another thing i did not see in the flyer is how many “acres per hour” and fuel consumption tables. looking at the 52 with the 25 koler efi. i emailed corperate few weeks ago and no reply. thanks
